My Visits to the White House

This past fall I was honored to be invited to the White House on 2 occasions as an advisor on health care policy. For the first visit I was part of a 15 member panel interviewed by Health and Human Services, the Federal Trade Commission and Brian Blase, the President's healthcare policy advisor. This generated the second interview which was a one-on-one conversation with Mr. Blase for a more in-depth discussion on policy regarding healthcare information technology and direct primary care. I was pleased to be invited along with Dr. Hal Scherz to the first visit and to have my other D4PC colleague Dr. Lee Gross accompany me to the second visit. It is gratifying that the folks who shape healthcare policy are finally listening to practicing physicians regarding the many problems that plague our healthcare system.
